AC machines play an essential part in our day to day life like water pumping to modern robots.AC motors are simple, tough in construction, and comparatively economic in construction because it’s no external connection and it’s a self-contained object.

AC Machines:
AC machines are electric motors. The working of AC machines is predicated on a rotating magnetic flux. DC motors that do not have brushes are an AC machine. it’s operated by an Alternate current. It converts electricity into energy or energy into electricity. When it converts mechanical to electrical then it’s called generators. And if it converts electrical to mechanical then it’s referred to as motors. AC machines also are referred to as induction motors. AC machines play an essential part in our day to day life like water pumping to modern robots.AC motors are simple, tough in construction, and comparatively economic in construction because it’s no external connection and it’s a self-contained object.
Types of AC Machines:
1). Asynchronous (speed of this AC machine is slower than supply frequency)
2). Synchronous (speed of this AC machine is adequate to the availability frequency)
Types of AC Machines consistent with the power Supply:
1). Single-phase AC machine (it is a low power motor so that it is used in the grinder, ceiling fans, etc.)
2). Three-phase AC machine: within these three different sets of windings are put in the stator. (Normally applied in high power need like air-con, hydraulic pumps, irrigation pumps, etc.)
The Operation Of The Asynchronous Motor Depends On the subsequent Facts:
1). Motor action: when an iron rod halts temporarily during a magnetic flux.
2). Transformer action: The stator is connected with power supply; the present is generated in rotor windings.
3). Rotating field: rotating magnetic flux is often formed by stator poles. If we mention the speed of the AC motor then it’s 3000 rpm for 50 Hz supply.
Ac Machines even have Some Losses Such As:
- Hysteresis loss (it is proportional to the world of hysteresis loop)
- Eddy current loss (when the fabric that conducts heat or electricity, make visible to a changing magnetic field)Combined, above losses, are referred to as core loss.
Basic parts of AC motor: a stator (produce a rotating magnetic flux and have coils, it’s an outer part, it’s connected with AC power supply) and rotor (produces torque, it’s an inner part, the cage is usually used rotor, it’s constructed with great density copper rods)AC motors are utilized in many fields like commercial, industrial, residential, etc.
Advantages of AC Machines:
1). Voltage is often stepped up or down in AC machines
2). Energy loss is a smaller amount
3). an easy connection is employed
4). High voltage
5). Overall good efficiency
6). Fewer parts to fail
Disadvantages of AC Machines:
1). Supplied EMF opposed by back-EMF
2). Insulation and shielding are needed by wires
3). 50 Hz Frequency should be needed for operation
4). AC will produce eddy currents thanks to the assembly of a back emf. – Because motors are generators that operate in reverse, they produce an emf a bit as generators do. – Called as back emf and doesn’t immediately appear when a motor is initially turned on.
